The Students’ Affairs and Welfare Department, through the Mentorship Committee, invites applications from continuing students to serve as volunteer STUDENT MENTORS under the University Mentorship Initiative. Applications are welcome from students pursuing Bachelor’s degree programmes who have no record of retakes. Interested applicants will apply through a Google Form, and the application link will be provided.
The Mentorship Initiative is intended to support first-year students as they transition into university life and academics. Volunteer Student Mentors will guide and provide relevant information to first-year students throughout the academic year. Each Student Mentor shall receive, register, and mentor at least twenty-five (25) first-year students for one academic year.
All selected Student Mentors will be required to attend a preparatory training organized by the Dean of Students’ Office on a date that will be communicated later. In addition, Student Mentors will be assigned Supervisors to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the mentorship programme. Student Mentors who serve diligently and effectively throughout the entire duration of the initiative will receive Certificates of Appreciation from Kyambogo University.
Please note that this is a voluntary service, and only students of the Academic Years 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 are eligible to apply. Only continuing students in Years One to Three may apply. Guild Leaders and students with more than one retake or with disciplinary issues at the University should not apply unless they have a recommendation from the Dean of Students or the Chairperson of the Mentorship Committee.
All information provided by applicants shall be treated with strict confidentiality. Selection of Student Mentors will be based on Faculty representation and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to ensure diversity, representation, and inclusiveness within the Mentorship Initiative.
